Description

The painting of Lord Jagannath is deeply rooted in Odisha’s devotional and artistic traditions, rich in symbolism, color, and cultural significance.

Lord Jagannath is rarely depicted alone; he is typically presented as part of a divine trio. At the center is Jagannath himself, a revered form of Lord Krishna or Vishnu. To his left stands his elder brother, Balabhadra, and to his right, their sister, Subhadra.

Each deity is uniquely characterized by large, expressive round eyes and distinct, stump-like arms—features inspired by the sacred wooden idols of the Jagannath Temple in Puri.

The dark background of the painting beautifully enhances the vibrant forms of the idols, adding depth and spiritual presence to the composition.
