Description
This is my modern pop art reinterpretation of The Girl with the Pearl Earring, originally painted by Johannes Vermeer in 1655. But this version carries my truth — bold, broken, and beautifully whole.
I believe every woman is fractured in some way by this patriarchal world. We’re told to shrink, to wait, to depend. But instead of giving in, we gather our shattered pieces and start building — not just ourselves, but legacies, movements, entire worlds.
This painting is made from my pieces. The sharp edges of pain, the soft curves of healing, the loud colors of rebellion. It’s cubist, it’s bold, it’s unapologetically loud — just like the voices that have been silenced for far too long.
Embedded in the artwork is Cher’s iconic quote: “Mom, I’m a rich man.” Because I don’t need a man to support me, love me, or offer me comfort. I can create my own comfort, my own wealth, my own freedom.
To every woman carrying her broken pieces — know this: you are the masterpiece.
And yes it has to be on a cover page
