My Story – Bhagwat Tukaram Sapkale

I’m Bhagwat Tukaram Sapkale, born on 1st June 1979 in Phupani, a small village in Maharashtra. I lost my father at the age of 10, and my mother and elder brother made many sacrifices to support my education. Their love and support shaped who I am today.

Surrounded by nature in my childhood, I found my passion for art early on. Encouraged by my brother, I studied at Dhule Adarsh Vitrakala School and later completed the Atadi Art Course from Saptpur Lalit Kala Bhavan. I moved to Mumbai in search of opportunities and began my journey as an art teacher at Airport High School and Junior College in 2006.

Alongside teaching, I’ve continued painting—my true calling. Art, to me, is divine. It lets me express what words cannot and helps me connect with the world around me.

My work has been exhibited at renowned galleries like Jehangir Art Gallery, Nehru Centre, and others across India. One highlight was setting a world record by painting 200 landscapes in five hours.

Awards like the Udyamsheela Award, Kala Upadhyay Award, National Award, and Mahatma Gandhi Darshan Award are symbols of a journey built on love, resilience, and creativity.

Nature remains my greatest teacher, and I continue to learn from it—every single day.
